Driffield sketch

Driffield Methodist Church has undergone major surgery in the last 8 years since it was decided to demolish the Victorian building and replace it with a new one.

The last service in the grand upstairs worship area was on Christmas Day 2011.

26th November 2011 had seen the last concert by the Driffield Male Voice Choir

1st January 2012 saw the first service in the Hall underneath the former worship area.

2012, 2013 2014 and most of 2015 saw work to repair and improve the Schoolroom on the south side of the church with a view to using it and the house on the church land as a base when the church was demolished and rebuilt.

Worship was transferred to the Schoolroom on 4th October 2015 with the harvest festival service.

After another three years of planning and fund raising, work to demolish the church began in November 2018 and was completed during February 2019.

Construction of the new church began in April 2019.

By 12th June 2019 the steel frame for the main part of the building was complete.

On Saturday 22nd June 2019 preparations are ready for the building of the brick walls, beginning at the west end.
