Leslie Newton writes... Dear friends — Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia

Welcome to Week 3 of our Great 50 Days journey. Material for the coming week is attached.

I'm really grateful to those of you who have shared with me some of your reflections on the material so far. It's great to hear about practical responses, such as:

  • making a commitment to join in streamed daily prayer
  • joining in with a virtual 24/7 prayer room
  • buying the Big Issue on line
  • ringing round people to check up on them and talk — both within and beyond the church community.
  • buying food from local shops and thereby supporting local businesses
  • taking care to ringfence personal time for rest and relaxation.
  • recognising the personal movement (sometimes quite fast) between celebrating the light of resurrection, and recognising the pain of suffering and loss.
  • time spent in the garden
  • listening to Spring Harvest sessions
  • crocheting pairs of hearts for an infirmary so that one can be given to a patient and the other to the family.

In the Synod video yesterday I mentioned how our financial giving can be so important at this time, if we find that our economic circumstances are not too adversely affected.

There are three ways I would encourage you to consider giving, please:
to projects in your local communities (food banks, small charities)
to global initiatives, such as the appeal by All We Can
to your local church — it's so important that we are generous supporters of our churches at this time, when some income has been lost and we want to be able to thrive, not just survive as we look to the future.

Thank you again for your feedback and please do continue to send thoughts that arise from your use of the material.

    With all good wishes
