Rev'd Leslie Newton, Chairman of the District writes...Dear friends, Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia

As we continue our journey through these Great 50 Days we come to these final days between the Lord's Ascension and Pentecost.

I do hope that paying attention to our three themes: Love | Pray | Give is proving helpful and productive for you.

Thank you for your continuing thoughts and feedback as you work through these materials, either individually or in small groups, via zoom or phone.

This week I encourage you to focus on Prayer.

I was delighted to receive feedback about a group that had recently done the Prayer Course https://prayercourse.org/ and found it a real blessing. I led this course in a church a few years ago and found it personally helpful too. Perhaps this is something you could consider sharing in after these Great 50 Days are completed.

There has been further testimony, also, about how helpful the Lectio 365 app is in providing daily support and resource.

Especially for these days between Ascension and Pentecost, can I encourage you to be part of the Thy Kingdom Come initiative. It is a global, annual opportunity supported by the Methodist Church and many different denominations. Many of you may have been involved in previous years.

Their website offers some great ideas to help us 'care for those you are praying for, pray for those you are caring for.' Please explore the TKC website and use some of their resources this week, so that together we are praying for our family, friends, neighbours and communities to know more of the love and peace and hope of Jesus Christ for themselves.

A reminder too, that next Sunday, Pentecost Sunday, 31st May at 6.30pm, I will be hosting a Zoom gathering for everyone within the District who is interested. Our theme will be exploring "What the Spirit is saying to the church in these days." Please email Sian, our District Administrator, at admin@yorkshirenemethodist.org if you'd like to be a part of this and an Zoom invitation will then be sent to you.

There will be a final resource next Sunday for Week 8 and I look forward to sharing with you again then.

With every blessing

Leslie
